Water Key Mangroves Wildlife Management Area
The deep water of Bahia Honda Channel continues north until it transitions into Big Spanish Channel, which takes you past these small mangrove islands where nesting, wading, and foraging birds, including reddish egret and great white herons, seek shelter. A pair of no entry zones have been drawn here, totaling 43 acres in size, to decrease impact to habitats for shallow water foraging shorebirds.
Special regulations apply here. Learn more about what activities are allowed in this type of zone.
A summary of all sanctuary regulations is available online. For the full text of sanctuary regulations, see 15 CFR 922 Subpart P.
