Snipe Keys Wildlife Management Area
Snipe Keys are a group of small islands 16 miles northeast of Key West, just east of Mud Keys, and one of the most popular sandbar sites in the Lower Keys. The mangroves are also popular with wildlife, and the area was designated to protect terns, shorebirds, and little blue herons (Egretta caerulea). Idle-speed only/no-wake zones are located in the main tidal creek and no-motor zones for the remainder of the creeks.
Special regulations apply here. Learn more about what activities are allowed in this type of zone.
