Pelican Shoal Wildlife Management Area
This small rubble area 6 miles southeast of Boca Chica Key was an important nesting site for birds until recent hurricanes washed away most of the island.
A no-access buffer zone out to 164 feet (50 meters) from shore is in effect between April 1 and August 31 and the shoal area is closed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Special regulations apply here. Learn more about what activities are allowed in this type of zone.
